Combine several icons

Would you like to combine several icons together ...

...select in the "File"- menu "Append...",...

...then select the second icon and press on "Open".

The icon is added to the already opened icon.

Before you load a second icon into an already opened icon, I advise you to re/name the files (Paths, Shaps and Styles), so that you can use the two icons afterwards can keep apart.

Import Icon from FileType

You can easily import the icons of existing file types into Icon-o-matic.

To do this, open the program "File Types", which can be found in the "Preferences".

In FileTypes you select the file format from which you want to import the icon into Icon-o-matic.

Then do a double-click on the displayed icon ....

... and import the icon in Icon-o-matic.

Call icon components

The more ingredients your icon has, the more confusing it gets. That's why it makes sense to name these. Not every path, every shape or every style needs to be given a different name. Rather, the parts that belong together should have the same name.
For example, if you create a shadow, then the Path, the corresponding Shape and the associated Style are called "shadow" together.

To name one of the components of the icon, select it. In the lower section of "Properties" you will find the section "Name", click here to specify the name. The name is accepted with during the Enter key.

As you can see the whole thing looks much clearer, if you have given names.

Import text

Even if Icon-o-matic does not have a text tool, you can insert texts in icons.

For example, open the text program StyledEdit and enter the text of your choice.

Mark the text, then drag (pressed left mouse button) the text to the icon-o-matic editor and drop it there (release mouse key).

This pastes the text, letter by letter, into Icon-o-matic. Here it can now be changed and moved like any other object in the editor.

Part transformation

In Icon-o-matic you can also transform parts of a Paths.

To do this, select the respective Path so you can see the Path.

To make the transformation to work, the Path must be closed.
To do this, mark the checkbox in "Properties" at "Closed".

Now mark with the mouse the points you want to change. To do this, click next to the first point and drag the mouse (keep the left mouse button pressed) over all the points you want to change.

Now go next to one of the points and turn the marked points (watch the rotate icon next the cursor).

In the example picture you can see very well how a partial transformation can look like.
