Play VCD

System: BeOS, Zeta

Before you can watch VCD's in zeta, you need to do some changes in the settings.

Open the settings for Tracker.

When you unmount a CD, the CDrom (player/writer) ejects the CD. We can't look at the VCD when it is mounted through automount (because of the way the VCD is mounted), so we need to tell the system that it doesn't need to eject the CD when unmounting. To do this, deselect "Eject when unmounting".

We need to create a folder to mount the VCD on a place of your choice. For this tutorial we create the folder on the desktop .

Place a VCD in the CDrom. If your system mounts the cd automaticly, unmount it.

Open the ZETA menu and go to /Software/System and select DriveSetup. Here you can see all drives. Search for the VCD using the CD name. Note the path of the CDrom (example: /dev/disk/scsi/1/0/0).

Open a terminal window and enter folowing command (change the path of the CDrom to your CDrom search result).

mount -t vcdfs /dev/disk/scsi/1/0/0/raw /boot/home/Desktop/VCD

With this command you mount the VCD into the folder you have created at start of this Tutorial. You mount this vcd using the vcd filesystem (vcdfs).

To watch the mounted VCD, you only need to drag and drop the folder on your DVD Player (VLC Player)

When you watched the movie and want to unmout the VCD, do the following:

unmount /boot/home/Desktop/VCD
