Refraction - Create a Sketch from a digital Picture

System: Zeta

If you visit the website of Xentronix you will find a example of a filter to create a sketch of an digital picture.

But how to use this filter, that's the steps to get a result like the example?

This tutorial is a cooperation between Frans van Nispen (develouper of Refraction) and the BeSly..

We start Refraction and open a picture of our choice:

We need to use Layers so we get into the menu and select Window/Floaters/Layer Window.

I the Layers window we do a right click on the layer and select Duplicate Layer.

We select the new Layer and use the filter for the sketch effect. Select the Filter menu and then Sketch.

Here you have more then one options for the filter.

- Carbon Pencil
- Colored Pencol
- Enhanced Color Pencil
- Enhanced Pencil

Test the filter options in order to find the best result.

Then you have found the best result , we change to the first Layer.

In the upper part of the Layer window you see a slider. With this slider you define the transparency of the Layer. If you move the slider the two Layers merge to one picture. For this tutorial we do the transparency to 30%. Finally the picture looks like a sketch.

To save the picture select the file menu and then Save As.
